Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust – announcement of Trust appointments - 2018

Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT) has recently been advised of a number of appointments to the Trust, effective 1 July 2018.

Class A Trust Appointments are a process coordinated through the Department of Health, Cemetery Sector Governance Support Unit and legislated under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003. Each Class A Trust member is appointed for a term up to 3 years and are eligible for reappointment. The appointments are made by the Governor in Council.

SMCT is delighted to announce that the current Trust Chairman, Sue Renkin, has been reappointed to the role of Chairman for another term. This is testament to the sound governance acumen and strategic foresight that Sue brings to the role of Chairman, honed by years of experience across a range of portfolios including the medical and science sectors.

Trust Members Julie Busch, Leigh Mackay and Sam Afra have also been reappointed and they join Sandy Chakravarty and Roger Chao on the Trust.

SMCT also welcomes two new Trust members who joined us, effective from 1 July 2018,
Robin Buckham and Craig Burke.

SMCT look forward to introducing the newly appointed Trust members to the organisation and the range of projects underway across our nine beautiful locations and our service platforms.

As we welcome the new Trust members, it is also a time for farewells. SMCT formally announces the departure of Brian Oates and acknowledges his valued contribution.

We thank Brian for his past term as a Trust Member, and warmly wish him well on his future endeavours.
